Hi, I live in Finland I have completed my master’s degree in Software Engineering from Finland. I have 2 YOE as DevOps engineer from Nokia Finland. I want to move to US apparently there is no other great way in this time to move there with job relocation as its quite a hassle and near to impossible on H1-B, Best option I have is to take admission in another masters programme then complete another degree from there in masters then seek a job afterwards in tech industry. I am more thinking towards public university like Taxes A&M in project management. I want suggestion from blind tech community on this. It would be highly appreciated. Thank you
Look for L1 visa if your company is offering that to you.
Nope apparently they are not offering plus its quite difficult to move that way from here I have checked that. Would master be a better option or should I look into more options ?
Masters is a good option. But again you’ll get 3 years of OPT( work authorization) and luckily if you get H1B then you can continue. And then the green card process.
Do you just want to make money or do you want quality of life?
Obviously I want make good money that’s reason i want to move there even on masters just to move there even if I have to do master degree again.
If you want a quality of life, stay in Finland. It is not a great time to look for visa sponsorship if your company will not transfer you because there are over 100,000 laid off citizens in tech
Yes I am aware of that. That’s why I am considering L1 at the moment with current market condition. Also thats why i am willing to take risk of doing master again then look for a job. Would it be worth it to take this route ?
Don’t do a masters just to relocate. If your company is willing to do an L1 - go for that. If you can secure a promotion to manager - do that before the L1 (L1A is easier to get and has a shorter path to GC than L1B). Honestly if your company won’t transfer you - finding one that will is still a better option than a masters.
You may be able to interview remotely from Finland. Some companies will help you relocate and apply for H1B visa for you.
This sounds extremely risky and I would not do it. I would wait for the market to improve. Btw, do you know how much school costs here, especially for international students?
Yes, doing Master's in US (hopefully with internship). Then stay and work in US. That's the desi way.
What are odds of getting internship during masters studies ?
Check the school's internship program. Typically students apply through the school, and some schools like UofW, Stanford, Waterloo have really good program. You can apply to company internship posting directly, but chances are not as high.
The easiest way is to marry an American.
Why would you move to US from Finland lmaoo. That's a step back bruv
Hows that a step back ? There aren’t good wages here. TC is very low taxes are very high. If you want to make a MILLION here it’s nearly impossible.
Tc ain't the only thing my guy, Finland is a high functioning society, higher standard of living. But to each it's own. Good luck
Don’t, especially if you were born in India
Nope I am not from india. Also can you please give some suggestions why not master ? As i am not aware of situation.
