HBO Max has an interesting URL format, for example "/page/urn:hbo:page:GWt7smwdD7I-hwwEAAAB9:type:feature". Is this a standard for a particular backend web technology? Or they've designed their own custom format?
It seems like they're incompetent with URL design. Cool URIs don't change.
Get PIP'd.
These are URNs. When they first created the app there was a huge cultural “web is bad” approach by the engineers in power to create the first HBO Go client. This is probably an artifact of that where they decided to not use normal urls as it would be “too webby” (shit u not this was a real term you would of heard before). Those people are gone now but remains of the anti webby push still remain.
This seems like something that was made for a mobile app but was then switched to support web.
Too bad their mobile app is also 🗑
