iirc they hired pretty modestly throughout the post covid free-money boom and they tend to do well during recessions so they're probably not fear-firing. I have no insider info outside of the above speculation.
Also want to know. Recruiter reached out and I am considering switching.
What i heard is there is a hiring freeze and vendor contracts are not getting renewed.
Walmart shut down their Store No 8, and laid off some folks. Otherwise, it doesn't expect to do layoffs
Haven't heard anything.. they have hired very modestly over the last 2 years. Most teams still have soft hiring freeze. In the case of small layoffs, they do their best to place folks in other teams. I have noticed teams are also well balanced, btw US and offshore on the tech side.
Target has been similar. Soft hiring freeze, small layoffs in 2023.
My team got budget approved for extra headcount recently
Which org?
same here
International is expecting a re-Org at the end of the year. We aren’t sure yet if that will include layoffs or if we will be absorbed by the US team, but our contractors are not being extended, we have a hiring freeze, and some of the work has dried up. Fingers crossed.
International as in? Tech jobs in Mexico , India etc ?
I mean, it depends on how greedy the CEO gets.
Have heard that some engg are told to find jobs in other teams, given a time of 2-3 months
Which org and location
What’s the cause for concern?
Because all the big tech is laying off..
Walmart isn’t like big tech.
