Country based queue is racist Points based is unfair HR 1044 will fuck up everyone Solution: round-robin by country
Points based isn't inherently unfair. A well designed such system can be very reasonable. If you want point based system, start a bill, bankroll a lobby. Many of us will support it. Until then, consider empathizing with your Indian colleagues who will rot in line only for being born in a populous country. Telling us merit is better, wait for it is like - when somoen is dying of thirst and you promise him chilled mountain spring water to drink in 2025.
But hr1044 is even worse than the status quo
It isn't - you are literally doing what the last line says. You are telling me that the water bottle i have has poor design in the label. For a person dying of thirst, that's irrelevant. You have no empathy for the kids who are aging out every day only because they were born in the wrong country. For the rest - these are kids who face situation like DACA. The only difference is that they are legal and their parents came here legally.
Depends what you give points for
>over 60% of the Indian backlog of comprised of low quality consulting applicants who lower the median wage and have little merit Getting a Green Card should be better for overall wages then. The consultants won't be bound to the company that filed H1B.
Yβall just gotta take emotions out of this. Equality and fairness are contradictory. This is a optimization problem, make it a leetcode problem and ask people to write schedulers
Only one country people supports 1044.
OP is over 35 and feels looses points because of age and so itβs unfair.
If you want to oppose this bill you NEED to call your senator and complain Look at all the posts getting flagged, there is an organized cabal of bullies who want to silence the majority of people who oppose this. Over 60% of the backlog is consulting applicants who have little merit and should never have gotten into the US. It will create a ten year wait for everyone, and the backlog will only grow because it does nothing to limit the number of applicants or increase the number of visas, so before long it'll be a 100 year wait for everyone. It makes absolutelyno progress towards merit based immigration And here's the kicker: due to spillover, India is already getting around 46% of all the visas, far beyond their 17% of world population, and these are mostly low paid workers who undercut and lower local wages.

Iranian back again with his hate. I can only assume what going to happen to you if it passes.
Alternative could be h1b visas limits by counties

Curious, why is points based unfair? You get more points if youβre more qualified.
Points based system (like Canada's) is not unfair.
OP is just dumb.
