I work in a group for a person who does not understand what I do. I'm tekkie but this person takes pride in knowing nothing technical. I get the crappy looks when I finish a project and have the nerve to be happy about it. My suggestions for communication improvement get the blank stare and the sneer from the boss. I'm not one of the friends the boss hired early in the life of the group. I feel like an outsider who can never do enough. I've worked most of my life and thought I'd be in a better place than this. The company is awesome; however, this group is not. I'm so sad.
The first line says it all. Why would you want to continue working for someone who doesn’t understand what you do. Isn’t that basically fucking over your own career? How can you advance if they have no clue how to rate your accomplishments. Consider changing groups. Or changing jobs. Best wishes
Change job
HR isn’t there for you, ever. Def don’t go to HR unless you intend to sue/file police report and want documentation that you went to HR. 9/10 times HR won’t do shit about your issue, 10/10 they couldn’t give a shit less about how you are treated.
Leave. Immediately.
Yes, avoid HR always. Treat them like dirty cops. Never speak to them, ever.
HR is there for the protection of the company first and foremost. You are merely a number that they need to make the EBITDA look good this quarter.
HR IS NEVER YOUR FRIEND! So you are probably luck HR is gone.
