HR secrets

What are the secrets of HR that nobody ever tells the rest of us? Discretionary equity at FB? PIPs? Medical problems? Lots of interpersonal drama?

Remember they don't represent you, they represent the company. Be very cautious working with HR.

HR people would get written up by anyone in HR if they weren’t in HR probably because it is so boring they need to create drama and be out of control.

1. Diversity is not a dirty word. (What’s wrong with you?) 2. Liberal and socialist are also not dirty words. 3. There is no such thing as reverse racism/discrimination. “Look what’s going on right now”? Sounds like a phrase straight out of our current President’s mouth. Congratulations on being part of the problem. Keep putting yourself before others! Sounds like it’s leading you to have lots of conflicts with HR…

Holy shit dude. Where do I start? 50 years ago life was worse for most people, especially if you aren’t a white male. Gay people couldn’t as openly be themselves. Women were expected to behave a certain way and were treated like they’re somehow lesser than men. Black people were routinely discriminated against without any recourse. These things are still happening, but more and more the world wakes up and sees it and starts asking itself “Hold on. How is this okay?” Every day, week, month we make a little more progress toward equality and inclusion. Don’t even start to say 50 years ago everything was peachy and now it’s terrible. What an ignorant view. What a convenient view for someone who has clearly never experienced a day outside his own privilege.

That “HR” is comprised of about 15 sub functions just like every other department. Asking a benefits specialist to give you interview feed back (recruiters job) or fire your mean manager (employee relations job) or explain why turnover is so high (hr analysts job) is futile.
