Had a phone screening with a VP today and felt weird about it. He wasn't really focused, felt like he was not interested from the first minute and he was not paying attention. Hours later I heard about the games shutdown. Although the position wasn't related to those games, could his behavior be related to the news? Is it safe to join EA now? #game
I interviewed with apex team. Half the interviewers were multi tasking
I had the same experience more than a year ago :)
Entirely depends on team. Which team would you be joining?
Depends on the team and what game/area they focus on. I'd avoid smaller lesser known titles and opt for teams that work on Apex, FIFA and any other "big" games (avoid the mobile games and check their recent Q3 earnings).
How do you check the quarterly earnings of each gaming org separately? Just curious.
Ah I meant the earnings of EA rather than the specific org, apologies for the confusion.
Like everywhere else, EA has a hiring freeze right now. It's possible they can't fill that position regardless of how your interview went.
Weird. EA recruiter slid into my DMs for interview next week.
Any news until when?
Gaming is never safe- but the water’s warm, hop on in
I thought there's always a demand for gaming
Yes but also always reductions

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
It’s not safe to join anywhere right now, layoff fever has hit everywhere and it’s still spreading.
Well, I should find something. My startup is going to layoff some people in 3-6mo
