At level L3 since 2.5 years at Google and still getting CMEs. There are just no projects in the team, and personal life has been messed up since covid started. Gradually it's getting back to normal but CME or NI feels to be around the corner again. How should I handle questions about current level, why still L3 since >2 years, did you ever get promoted, etc.? Handling questions like challenging projects, project deep dive, etc. is also a nightmare. Although I worked on many things, nothing feels like big enough, worthy enough for describing during the interview. Making a switch seems to be the only option because of the lack of motivation in the current team, but it's hard because I don't feel like I have 3 years of "experience" at this time. Anybody in similar situation? Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.
For the project deep dive you have to formulate a story. If yours is not worth mentioning then check from colleagues who are in other teams. Get details from them and explain.. but do practice about it. I have had a colleague who had done that. Best luck
