TC: 220K, 2 YoE Engineer in the Bay Area: Have an offer for ~320k in a lower cost of living city (think like Chicago/Dallas). Obviously the money is better, but anyone have any insights to the longer-term career benefits of staying in the Bay vs moving elsewhere this early in my career?
Which company bruh?
Which company which area ??
HFT firm in Chicago
Industry is high stress. As long as you're okay with that.
The Bay is pit, run fast and far. You can always return.
+1 to this I am moving from the Midwest to the Bay area.

Peaceful Protest Hasn’t Worked and Has Been Met With Aggression.
Take it. Are you crazy? I assume you’re young so there are no draw backs. You’ll save tons of money at a low COL area with that TC and get tons of girls because you rich. If you hate the other city you can always move back after a year or two and get more TC. Getting such a great TC increase IS the career benefit because you have leverage for future negotiations.
Plus 2 YoE with 320k is crazy. Not sure how you landed that.
Makes sense. I guess I just always heard about the Bay being the only real place for cool/lucrative tech. Starting to see that's not true :) Just knew the right people at the right time I guess.
