Has Trump already made America great again?

If the economy is soo good why is this an issue? I am truly scared of the direction this country is going. The rich are getting richer, many of us on Blind included, and the middle class is disapearing. Keep in mind most of these kids are probably middle class as poor kids get free lunch. The stock market and the unemployment rate aren’t the only things to look at to determine if the economy is doing well. Wage stagantion is a huge problem and needs to be addressed. Businesses need to be incentivized to increase employee wages and not always send the money to executives and shareholders. Employees are stakeholders as well. It’s a local school district issue and has got nothing to do with the wider economy at all. Economy is better than ever and wages are rising across the board, the rate of poverty is decreasing. However, poverty still does exist obviously

Turning this into a Trump issue is a reach.

Procore sundance OP Jul 21, 2019

Isn’t he the president? The crime problem in Chicago was Obama’s problem. That’s what happens when you are in the hot seat. If he takes credit for the good he needs to take credit for the bad.

Oath Atinlay2 Jul 21, 2019

Nobody said the crime in Chicago was Obama’s problem.

Procore sundance OP Jul 21, 2019

The economy is doing better for a small subset but for a majority it’s not improving. Wages are pretty flat actually. This is happening across the country.

Oath Atinlay2 Jul 21, 2019

Local school systems are horribly mismanaged and your side keeps calling for teacher pay increases. Where do you think that money comes from?

Procore sundance OP Jul 21, 2019

I am an independent. Yes, school districts are mismanaged because they don’t have a lot of money to work with as they have to deal with a bunch of emotionally unstable kids that come from single parent homes. Not a Bernie supporter either. But I support candidates that don’t give huge tax cuts to the rich while the middle class is struggling.

Public schools are very mismanaged. Many of them spend more on pensions for former teachers than on current teachers.

Well, no, employees are not stakeholders. If the business fails they are not responsible for any of the debt. They just have to find a new job. That’s not much stake.

If you cant feed your kids, they should be taken away. Why are you in favor of child abuse?

Microsoft bVTL21 Jul 24, 2019

This is the stupidest suggestion ever.

Microsoft FUPM Jul 27, 2019

So you think that someone who cant care for their kids should be allowed to keep them?

Uber itsdara Jul 21, 2019

People spend shit load of money on themselves and expect their kids to be taken care of for free. I feel bad for the kids in general

Procore sundance OP Jul 21, 2019

You are soo ignorant. Go spend a day with a poor person to see that their life is like and you will think differently. There are some poor people that do what you say but most don’t.

Uber itsdara Jul 21, 2019

LoL careful who you call ignorant. I used to be one of the poor kids that got free lunch, the kids with higher income parents were envious since they had to buy expensive food that wasn't even as good as my free food. Repeat after me: poor people don't have to pay for school lunch or breakfast. During Christmas I don't donate food because the low income family friends dump that donated food at my house as they don't know what to do with it.

Just keep in mind that the stock market is not a good way of measuring the economy. The stock market measures how strong owning shares in a particular company is. It doesn’t measure if we’ve improved our happiness, it doesn’t measure if we’ve improved our quality of life. Take water quality as an example. Imagine that the laws change to make it easier to dump waste in rivers. A bunch of stocks would go up because those companies would be worth more. Those companies would be worth more because they don’t spend as much on waste. But if the waste makes us sick, then we are less happy/healthy. A less happy/healthy population is probably not what you want. So you could say that the economy is worse because people are less happy and healthy. So sometimes the stock markets go DOWN because governments did something BAD for the economy. But... Sometimes stock markets go DOWN because the governments did something GOOD for the economy. It’s likely that trump is improving the stock market by damaging the economy

If you can’t feed your kid, the kid should be put in foster care. Is that controversial?

Amazon S0RD8876 Jul 21, 2019

It’s more a question of “if you can’t pay a bill, we will take your children.” Reading an article on this it sounds like the average debt was $20. Imagine the same article but if you are late on your electric/water/cable bill, say goodbye to your children also? According to NPR 31% of American households have trouble paying their electric bill each month. So its likely that a similarly large % of Americans have trouble paying other reoccurring expenses as well.

Intel cjeiwoa Jul 21, 2019

You can live without electricity (people did it for millennia). Can’t live without food.
