Curious if anyone here has actually failed a background check for things around employment history? So don’t include potential criminal or violations. Assuming you actually worked at the company for the exact time frame in your resume, but your title is off. My girlfriend tweaked her title from her first undergrad job to make it sound more official versus kinda of a lame title and now she’s waiting on a Checkr background check for an offer at Uber. Tc $280K
That should probably be fine. I also worried about that in the past, but nothing happened.
Be very worried about this. Many companies rescind offer if there is a day discrepancy on the background check
No, but I was a vendor for a small company, and they kept changing vendor companies so I lost track and wrote I worked directly for the company instead. It took about a week to resolve—they’re pretty nice about it, but delayed my the check by a few days.
It's kinda annoying that the resume has to be very simple to be parsed correctly by automatic parsers, but sometimes that leads to lying to simplify things. Though, in the OP's case, the lie wasn't necessary at all.
Never failed but I also never lie about my titles. Don't give yourself retroactive promotions or responsibilities. Tell the truth and you'll be fine.
Neither paycheck nor W2 have the titles on them ;)
Is there a way for Hireright or other background check companies to know your title?

Uber won’t care
I was a clown in my old job but put SDE and Uber accepted it. No questions 😂
Or you were an SDE, but put clown ?!
