Has anyone heard of Ryot Labs? - An Oath company - Considering a contractor position.

Does anyone work at Ryot Labs or have insight into the culture and projects there? Seems really cool and extremely innovative , but the offer is a contract position (and pay cut)

Spent 6 months at oath ama, some teams have good work, but lots of growing pains, lots of negativity, lots of uncertainty

Ah interesting. Was it a contract position or FT?

Ft, you know oath is yahoo, aol and other tech properties Verizon owns right?

ryot is doing really cool things and operates in somewhat of a silo. lots of creativity and ar innovation. our 401K is top notch at Oath. culture is still coming together but my impression is that the ryot folks are proud of their work and enjoy what they do. got an offer?

That’s good to hear and that is the impression I got as well. I got an offer - but it’s as a contractor first and then maybe FT. Apparently, this is pretty standard for Oath. Since it’s all new tech and seems very innovative I’m considering it... but it is a risky and a pay cut

This sounds like an awful idea man, pay cut? Contract? The place is super unsure and I’ve seen lots of contract people not get the offer even though they worked hard.

RYOT is being backed hard by Oath internally. Lots of praise. The culture of RYOT seems really “bro-y”, but I could be wrong. They seem on good footing with Oath. Oath, however, is a nightmare. I would not recommend joining for that reason.

Everyone I’ve talked to whose at RYOT loves it and say that pretty much all contractors get FT offers unless their performance is low. The oath thing is sticky and annoying. It’s a tough decision for me. It’s so risky but something about the ppl I met and projects their working on really enticed me. Going to decide soon. Oath sounds pretty tough to work with

I would only recommend it you need the experience, if the money is way better, or you really hate your current job. Oath feels like a weight. We’ve been with them for almost a year and it’s just getting worse and worse. I love working for Tumblr, but I’m interviewing at other companies I care less about because of Oath. It’s sad.

Op I strongly suggest you don’t do this

Are you at Nike HQ? What don't you like about your current role?
