I’m in Delhi and I want to eat at all the places I loved to eat at but after a decade of living in the US my immunity has gone down the drains 🙄 Can’t eat at anymore even at the fancier places that are clean and all ... What do fellow “NRIs” do ? any hacks ? apart from eating from clean places and not drinking tap water ? #indianfood #travel
You got yourself a case of Delhi belly
That’s the problem ... not the solution ... so what’s your point ? 🙄
A microbiologist colleague of mine swore by eating probiotic foods, particularly yogurt, for 2 weeks prior.
I take probiotic supplements everyday ... guess need to up the dose
Food is always than supplements at delivering therapy and nutrition
I don’t feel that way at all. Can’t relate 🤷🏽♀️
My Delhi belly isn’t a feeling it’s a fact ... so good for you if you can’t relate
No food is worth 4-5 days of hell afterwards
You haven’t had chaat, chicken lalabdar and biriyani then 😐
Finding toilet is hell let alone the sickness...
This happens a lot. I went to India for a couple of weeks, ate something from a decent restaurant and fell sick. Next time I visited, I made sure to only eat home cooked meals. Guess what? Still fell sick. Despite of using bottled water for cooking food. I don’t know what else to do. I love Indian food and I cannot believe this is happening. I have lived in India more than I have lived in the US. Guess your post might enlighten me.
You don’t need to cook in bottled water dude that’s a bit much and unnecessary... and clearly ineffective as you mentioned ... I’m sure your home in India is equipped with a good quality water filter ( if not get one ) ... try using that and you’ll be fine ... I use bottled water only when I’m outside once I run out of the water I carried from home ... reduce your carbon footprint bottled water isn’t good for anyone and anything ...
Just eat it. Don’t be a cry baby.
Just ate it ( again and again ) ... not being a cry baby man ... It’s not my eyes that are watering ...
1. Stop taking probiotic supplements.. You didn't eat them all your growing life, you don't need it now. Anyway they are not working for you. 2. Drink a glass of hot water in morning, squeeze a lime into it if you have it else just hot water will do. 3. Eat smaller portions. Perhaps you love the food and excitement of eating Delhi food, you are gobbling up more than you should.. 4. Don't mix different cuisines. Enjoy 1 type of cuisine in 1 meal. 5. If possible Before bedtime, drink a spoon of concentrated lemon juice (squeeze a whole lemon and drink without diluting in water). Helps in digestion and easing the acidity. 5. Some of this is age related too. You are 10 years older than 'back then', so give a break to your stomach - it's doing its best. Try going 2 times a day for bowel movements.
What do you mean by your immunity has gone down? Did you fall sick? I have lived out of India for 17 years and can pretty much stomach everything. Few suggestions: 1) Carry your water everywhere - dirty water can bring you down anytime, 2) give breaks in between - go light food in between, 3) activity -walk. It’s easy to just sit and eat. Have fun while in India.
😆
