Hey Blind, I am a complete noob when it comes to investment and hence need some advice. I have about 16k in my checking account that I won't need to touch for 3 months. What is the best short term investment option? The savings account would earn me only 0.5% interest. Is there any other safe and better investment option? This fund is for my sister's college tuition that will be due in May sometime and hence cannot afford to lose any money. I have heard about vanguard index funds, but is it safe? TIA Tc-122 Yoe-2.5 #personalfinance #investments
God no - if you cannot afford to lose the money for tuition that’s due in 3 months please do not invest it in the market
Personally I would just keep it where it is until May.
Stock market is not safe for short term..don’t gamble..FD or bonds are secured way..but time is a factor
3months is not long time, I would not gamble sister’s college tuition in current volatility. Check money market account with your broker I think they give higher rate than bank that might be safest bet. If you can risk 10% -20% index funds may be option with possible gains of 0-10% max
Don’t touch that money ! Leave it as it is.
Cool. Thanks everyone. Would just leave it as is!
Not certainly tho, u can trade crypto with equity. while trading, ur capital remains intact loses are at 0%
PayPal
yah, options! calls and puts!
A money market account is your best option. It will provide slightly higher returns than a savings account with essentially no risk
