Hi everyone, Some background about myself, for most of my life, I had a serious lack of self confidence. I worked hard, got good grades in school, and then went on to work as a hardware SOC engineer for almost a decade. I had insecurities but I was able to keep them in check by being outwardly successful....until I couldn't pull that trick anymore... 3 years ago, I got a job at a division at Intel. The working environment in that company was so stressful and toxic. I worked flat out for this division but even my best efforts were not enough to make up for the insane deadlines and unrealistic expectations placed on everyone there. My usual way of dealing with my lack of self confidence through achieving things no longer worked. The first year of working at Intel was honestly the most tramautic, stressful experience of my entire life. Fortunately, I got help. I sought the help of a clinical counselor who used to work as a sports therapist. With his help, I tackled and fixed the root cause of my lack of self confidence. You know how a lot of engineers talk about having impostor syndrome? Well, I am an engineer who defeated it. I know that there are a lot of engineers out there who lack self confidence, who feel that everyone else is better than them. And unfortunately, there are not a lot of resources specifically designed to help engineers overturn their anxieties or deal with the stresses of the job. So I have decided to do something about that. I am planning on building a company that helps engineers to become confident and healthy people. So I am reaching out to the Blind community asking for any stressed or burnt out engineer to contact me so that I can interview them for market research. The goal is to get to know what are the biggest health challenges engineers face and how a business can help tackle these challenges. If you are interested, schedule an appointment at https://calendly.com/auggywonger/1-1-interview. Good luck to my fellow engineers who are going through what I went through. It's for you guys that I am building this business! Thanks for taking the time to read.
What proof do you have that you “conquered” anything? Seems like you live the same life and job.
Hi, Thanks for responding. I understand that since you don't know me, you want evidence that I am happier and healthier. I can tell you that I am not living the same life. I am still on Blind but I decided to leave Intel and I didn't have another job lined up. To me, starting this small business is my job. Quitting that job was not an easy thing for me. It was a toxic environment but it also paid the bills. But I did it because I learned to respect myself and not allow myself to be bullied by managers. I chose to quit for my own health and future happiness.
That’s fair and you may be feeling much better, but i think it may be difficult for people to accept coaching from you without some sort of achievement backing up what you are saying.
Sent you a DM.
I’m rooting for you
Thanks! I'm looking forward to being able to help people like us. Ever notice how there's so many resources for engineers to help become better engineers (leetcode) but barely any resources to help engineers develop their mental toughness? Despite how almost all of what engineers do is mental work?
Good hustle
How are you helping people by interviewing them?
The goal of interviewing people is to understand how to structure the business to provide the most value to customers. It's a part of the market research. I can't build a business based on what I think other people's needs are. I need to build a business based on what people actually need. But aside from market research, I am more than happy to share my own experiences with clinical counselling and such.
This just sounds like you're helping yourself build your business. I don't see how you're helping the interviewee.
If you have not gone through the proper education and certification path for counseling, please please please do NOT attempt to counsel people.
You can't call yourself a counsellor man, maybe a life coach or career coach or something generic like that.
I did not explicitly called myself a counsellor. But if I gave the impression that I was going to, I apologize. All I said was I am working with a counselor to build a business to help engineers deal with their anxieties and whatever mental issues they have. So yes, I would not call myself a counsellor. A career coach or something like that would indeed be more appropriate.
I agree with GP, you gave the impression that you wanted to help people with imposter syndrome (during the interview). Instead seems like you just want to extract buisness value of of them and leave them high and dry. Wouldn't want to get "help" from a company like that.
So you are planning to build a company that provides psychological help? ...Online? How are you different/better than just seeing a clinical (and certified) person *live*? I don’t think you really thought this through.
It is true that perhaps I have nothing to offer. That's what I hope to prove or disprove with the marketing research I am conducting.

Hi. Thanks for responding. Can you schedule an appointment by clicking the link on the original post? It helps me organize my schedule. Thanks!
Also, unfortunately I cannot pay people for their time. There are plenty of people I know outside of Blind who are happy to share their experiences for free. But I wanted to reach out to Blind because I see the occasional post about someone who needs help dealing with stress. I want to help those people.
