Isn't like the whole point of bias that it's subconscious?
If it's subconscious how are people admitting to being biased?
What's the definition of bias? I usually has some bias if I see Strong resumes.
Bias is either forming an opinion without data or using non technical traits (like gender/race etc). Forming an opinion after reading a resume is not a bias.
Forming opinion based on someone's education or experience which is similar to yours can lead to bias.
The vagueness of the question insinuates all bias is bad. For things like racial or gender bias, I’d agree that is “bad”. But I always have a bias in favor of internal candidates vs external assuming both candidates meet all other qualifications. That bias is a reflection of my passion for mentoring and coaching employee career development.
This is a very vague question. The only way I really see someone answering No is that person hasn’t taken interviews at all No interview -> No bias
And that's a good thing ?
Getting biased at some level is completely unavoidable. The way humans think, there is always going to be some level of bias. That bias could come due any element that increases relatability with the candidate like similar background/college/city/employer etc. All of this biases the thinking at some level and in my opinion is almost unavoidable in at least a one off case and hence 100% no bias is nearly unachievable if you have taken multiple interviews
