Bought a car a little over 2 years ago, I've been taking care of it, but it started making weird noises, I Google it, it's a common problem for the model dating 10 years. So anyway for the past 6 months I've been back and forth trying to get it resolved, at least 5 times. I've talked to the manager there and he was an aHat. They insist I need to go during the weekday because they don't have the labor in weekends. They haven't been calling me back and sometimes don't even pick up. This is the dealership servicing center, is there anything I can do? Should I escalate with the manufacturer?
Dealership has resolved your bug as Will Not Fix
What kind of car is it? You can talk to the corporate office instead of dealer network as well and get some help
Yeah I might try that. It's just a midsize sedan
So much detail, but no mention of which car or brand..
That's by design. I don't want to say something bad about a brand because of one lousy dealer
Is there only one dealership near your area? Try a different oneā¦ And brand does matter - Mercedes customer service and response is not the same as Hyundai. It is a night and day difference.
Sell it
I'm actually considering this as well. Used cars are still at a markup right?
Yeah. They probably will be for a while. Manufacturers are producing less cars because of the Microchip shortage.
The manufacturers realy on dealers to service vehicles, HOWEVER, if you escale it our engineers may be able to help the dealer with the issue. I guess its a GM or Tesla, their quality is terrible
It's actually Japanese car. They told me they got manufacturer involved last time, but this time they're like we'll definitely get them involved this time
They may not be lying lol. Theres levels of involvement, the first one is through a technical call center, if it doesnt work an actual engineer can fly/drive into the area
You could also try fixing it yourself if it doesn't require all kinds of tools.
I had a 2003 BMW 3 series convertible and top wouldn't retract. I took it to a mechanic and they just gave up on it. After a lot of Google and reading on Forums I found a solution and ended up fixing it myself.
Check the lemon law in your state. Lots of states if they can't fix it in 3 tries they're required to offer to buy it back from you.
I'll reach out to my states lemon law contact. I don't have everything in their list, but I feel like the essence of their list is met and documented
Find a local mechanic/garage. They do a better job most of the times unless the job is super complex. YouTube, buy the spares, fix it yourself. That's what I do these days. I collect tools for half the money I'd pay to the garages, and get highest quality products put in. I changed a fuse for 6$ recently, which I was quoted $600 for diagnosis and "full" repair. What a ripoff!
Try a different dealer? Look for one with good reviews for the service dept. And it's probably true the best techs capable of fixing it work regular business hours and not on evenings/weekends.
I guess so, it'll be out of my way, but I've been going with these guys since I got the car. Can I report this at all? Also from my googling others took it to the dealer and got it fixed up. That's why I didn't think it'd be such a hassle
