Both are good. Getting a referral is better.
Even with referrals it’s tough. First two referrals did nothing for me. Upon the third referral I had 2 google recruiters contacting me directly to schedule an interview.
for all the shit that gets thrown at Amazon, I still feel I could have learnt things faster if I chose amazon over Google as a new grad. Seen some new grads getting to learn about reliability and scalability early in their career with barely no life though!

Any company is fine provided they were F500 (the larger the better) I've worked in big tech for many years before leaving for F500 type companies for faster promotions and quick path to C-Suite But i had to walk away from the big stock promises that people use to brag about on Blind. Walked away from Google after they offered me 430K for a PM role, but lowballed my base salary which was 🥜
