Health insurance for spouse at MSFT

My spouse just started a full time job where she is eligible to get a health insurance. But MSFT insurance is much better. Does MSFT penalize if my spouse continues to get coverage via MSFT?

You have to coordinate benefits. There is a small fee per month. Use AskHR to find out more. All this info is on the intranet. Try searching.

Her insurance is the primary, MS picks up the rest. With both insurances she has better health coverage. The fee only comes in if she declines her own to stay in yours

How the deductible and hsa contribution change if the spouse is only for secondary insurance?

If she declines her coverage, you have to pay 75$/mo

I think you mean per paycheck, 2x/month

I was in same boat. Make sure your wife has primary insurance from her company and secondary from MS. There is no extra fees for it. But note that now you are insuring two people, your deductible max would be 3k and co pay max would be 2k. MS will also contribute more (2k) towards your HSA.

No you pay $75 a paycheck and have your spouse turn down their insurance. My spouses plan has a monthly fee and the plans are not as good, so spouse stayed on mine and I get $75 deducted out of my paychecks. Also it was a bit of a hassle to deal with both insurances. Sometimes there was paperwork to fill out to get certain meds reimbursed if they were not covered by my spouses plan. Also my spouse could not get their prescriptions filled at the living health center pharmacy.

Do they ask for proof that your spouse is eligible/ineligible for insurance coverage when employed?

Some how they found out for us and I had to start paying $75 a paycheck. Anyways I just pay now because I don’t want to get into a situation where we are denied coverage.

Was your spouse enrolled in his/her employer’s insurance plan before your move to MS?
