Hello Miami 👋

I’m doing it. Finally joining the SF Bay exodus. SF wasn’t built for people working from home. Miami kinda feels like it was. What’s going on? Who is out there? #remotework #wfh #miami #bayareaexodus

Are you on Twitter a lot

Google purplesim OP Jan 11, 2021

Occasionally. Is Miami on Twitter now?

Amazon dagvieidaf Jan 11, 2021

Google purplesim OP Jan 11, 2021

Working for same company. I’m moving with the expectation of coming back when offices reopen, if they ever do.

Amazon dagvieidaf Jan 11, 2021

o ok when u said exodus thought that meant permanent. u keeping 2 apartments?

Facebook Almastf Jan 11, 2021

Don’t fducking vote Democrat when you get here.

Skyworks Solutions knightsha Jan 11, 2021

Why not, most of the GDP/technical prowess of this country was pioneered in democrat majority states.....

Facebook Almastf Jan 11, 2021

So why not stay there?

Amazon dagvieidaf Jan 11, 2021

how do u make sure u avoid hurricanes?

Google purplesim OP Jan 12, 2021

Not sure I can guarantee that 😅

Citrix Systems 2021? Jan 16, 2021

Hurricane trajectory are known in advance ... you get almost a week to prepare. Less dangerous than tsunami, volcano or earthquake time sensitive calamities

Why Miami vs other places like LA or Austin

Amazon dagvieidaf Jan 11, 2021

CA sux, it's the dumpster that produced half of #joe&thehoe. Austin aiite but will be blistering hot, car dashboard-melting hot

Dropbox 3kjw Jan 18, 2021

Is t Miami just as hot as Austin and even more humid? Both are insufferable in the summer but Miami has beaches.

Amazon GdJN77 Jan 11, 2021

Born and raised in the 305. Cheap as fuck compared to SF. Night life is awesome. Lots of dumb (but friendly) people though so that might make you mad lol.

Amazon dagvieidaf Jan 12, 2021

wanna go back?

Amazon MNO1206 Jan 12, 2021

No lol

Vonage Jilewqsg Jan 12, 2021

Miami has the best weather in the country for people that like tropical/warm weather. Only problem is that there is no tech related jobs compared to Seattle or SF.

Amazon eisenhower Jan 29, 2021

You're wrong. Things changed a bit. It's still worse than SF, LA, Seattle, NY, Austin, DC or Nashville, but it's improving by the day. Just got a nice offer in Miami (I'd get similar numbers in Seattle).

San Diego?

Aren't you afraid of the Covid-friendly atmosphere ?

Uber oXbI53 Feb 24, 2021

hahaha lol

Amazon savm Mar 5, 2021

COVID outcome stats aren't too different from Cali. Economic impact stats are pretty different though

QuEST Global dLsD11 Jan 12, 2021

Best thing is that you can take a cheap cruise to Bahamas or Caribbean islands. May be also check out the space x space launches and disney land in a day trip.

RingCentral tourist_ru Jan 12, 2021

South Florida is ok, depending on your personality and what you are looking for, may or may not work for you. So, higher crime rates, pretty bad schools, fewer things to do besides beach-related stuff, etc... but you get nice clubs and a decent party environment, if you are thinking of Miami (Dade county), do you speak Spanish?, you may have a hard time ordering food on most places, the job market there is not great either, TC wise. If you already have a nice online gig, give it a try for a few months before moving.

Amazon eisenhower Jan 29, 2021

You can get around with English, but knowing a few words in Spanish helps. Schools are bad in Miami, but decent to stellar in the suburbs. Job market is improving. It's not for everyone, but I think it's worth a bet. Real Estate here will explode in a few years like what happened in Seattle 7 years ago.

Amazon eisenhower Jan 29, 2021

If you go someplace that pays well (Citadel, GS, BX in finance, Citrix in tech), TC is good (not great, but good, it's easier to buy a house in Miami than in San Francisco or Seattle with the same position).
