I’m doing it. Finally joining the SF Bay exodus. SF wasn’t built for people working from home. Miami kinda feels like it was. What’s going on? Who is out there? #remotework #wfh #miami #bayareaexodus
how u doing it? moving company? what will you do when wfh ends?
Don’t fducking vote Democrat when you get here.
Why not, most of the GDP/technical prowess of this country was pioneered in democrat majority states.....
So why not stay there?
how do u make sure u avoid hurricanes?
Not sure I can guarantee that 😅
Hurricane trajectory are known in advance ... you get almost a week to prepare. Less dangerous than tsunami, volcano or earthquake time sensitive calamities
Why Miami vs other places like LA or Austin
Is t Miami just as hot as Austin and even more humid? Both are insufferable in the summer but Miami has beaches.
Born and raised in the 305. Cheap as fuck compared to SF. Night life is awesome. Lots of dumb (but friendly) people though so that might make you mad lol.
Miami has the best weather in the country for people that like tropical/warm weather. Only problem is that there is no tech related jobs compared to Seattle or SF.
Aren't you afraid of the Covid-friendly atmosphere ?
Best thing is that you can take a cheap cruise to Bahamas or Caribbean islands. May be also check out the space x space launches and disney land in a day trip.
South Florida is ok, depending on your personality and what you are looking for, may or may not work for you. So, higher crime rates, pretty bad schools, fewer things to do besides beach-related stuff, etc... but you get nice clubs and a decent party environment, if you are thinking of Miami (Dade county), do you speak Spanish?, you may have a hard time ordering food on most places, the job market there is not great either, TC wise. If you already have a nice online gig, give it a try for a few months before moving.
You can get around with English, but knowing a few words in Spanish helps. Schools are bad in Miami, but decent to stellar in the suburbs. Job market is improving. It's not for everyone, but I think it's worth a bet. Real Estate here will explode in a few years like what happened in Seattle 7 years ago.
If you go someplace that pays well (Citadel, GS, BX in finance, Citrix in tech), TC is good (not great, but good, it's easier to buy a house in Miami than in San Francisco or Seattle with the same position).
Are you on Twitter a lot
Occasionally. Is Miami on Twitter now?
