Currently live and work in Bellevue. Got offer from Amazon L6 160k 20% $500k Working out around $315k per year Not counting joining bonus because that is to smooth out lack of shares in initial years. This is 25% bump over my current. I like my current job but I believe I should get much better sal as l7 in Amazon after promotion compared to promotion in current company. Also I hope I can leave Amazon as a director to smaller companies or even in ebay. Thoughts on strategy and salary please.
Does amazon not refresh stock on a yearly basis?
yes. after 4 yrs
This is a very good offer
If you are a dir in ebay , you will likely get L6 or if you push hard L7 - don't dream of dir - it's very hard to get in as dir and survive
You're doing the math wrong. Initial year 1 cash "bonus" + salary is your year 1 target comp. year 2 cash bonus (if any) + salary + 10% stock (vesting in year 2) * 1.15 (assumed annual stock price growth) is your year 2 target comp. There is no "joining bonus to smooth out" anything -- the bonus is just target comp expressed as cash instead of stock. Your stock vesting schedule is heavily tail-weighted because the attrition rate says you mostly likely won't stick it out to year 4. So just do the math and ask yourself if it's a good deal.
What is 20%? How is sigon bonus? Experience? A friend joined recently
Year end bonus
It's a right strategy. Get in as L7 with large group, then get promoted to director. Director in Amazon is at least VP or SVP in smaller companies. Also as a director in Amazon you can basically choose what you are working on.
What is 20%? Is 500k your sign on bonus? I have heard sign on bonus is spread over 2 years.
That is year end bonus. $500 is spread over 4 years. Very tail heavy.
never heard of a year end bonus @ amzn, only sign on
About $125 a year
"Manager" what would the actual title be at Amazon? That total comp is healthy for an L6 with any title.
