Help evaluate Lyft offer
Please help me evaluate a Lyft offer. 6 years exp. Generalist hire at Lyft. 170k base and 400k in RSUs. I feel RSUs is way too low. What's a good number to ask for? Heard that similar offers in Uber have way more I'm equity. Am I being low balled? Thx!
This is low. I know people with much less experience getting 500k Rsu from uber
your number of years in experience does n' matter much. are you being offered a Software engineer or senior?
I'm being offered software engineer but was told that it's flat and there are no destinations among ICs by the recruiter. Is that not so?

the only to answer to, 'is this a good offer' is, you make ur own market. you don't know ur market unless u have a competing offer
Not true. According to your logic people with only 1 offer can be offered 70k and shouldn't consider it low.

My negotiating formula at all of my jobs has been to ask for 10% more, accept no less than 5% above their opening, and in bargaining, offer to take the additional comp in equity instead of base.
Now a days uber don't give many RSU.
RSU are phantom stocks, right? It may be worth 0, 400k or more. But you need 5 years or so to find out. Right? I'm new to the RSU concept, so please help me understand.
RSU's for companies without projected liquidity events (ex: lyft, uber) are phantom stocks, yes. If there is a liquidity event before you go through the full four years, you can cash out the amount you vested after any lockout periods that may follow the event.
uber, lyft et. al: yes — M$, Facebook , Google (or Cisco for that matter): No
Lyft is solid. Just announced a partnership with GM.
This offer is better than what you would have got at Uber.
I heard Uber equity packages are in the 750k-1M range from both here in Blind and anecdotally. Is that not so anymore?
Not anymore. With 6 years of experience, you would have got 140K with 350K RSUs.
