I have about 2YOE and currently have offers for Software Engineer 2/Associate from 1. Uber -> Amsterdam 2. JPMC -> London 3. GS -> London Base, stock and benefits at Uber are much higher than the other two and JPMC is not giving any stock. But my final goal is to move to a place like Citadel/Jane Street/2 Sigma/HRT/Millennium. The team I have the offer from in JPMC is a very front office team. Also if I leave Uber before 2 years I have to pay back my joining and relocation bonus. In this regard : 1. should I go with the JPMC offer as this will give me relevant experience in the finance domain in front office which I can later use to get a role at a hedge fund or 2. should I go with Uber because it has more pay and Amsterdam has a 30% tax benefit for expats I am quite confused, please help, I have already resigned and my last day at Meta is coming up. Thanks # citadel #2sigma
You already got meta and optimizing early career tc is like pinching at pennies. Sounds like the JPMC role is a good choice and then leave in 1-2 years
I am a little perturbed because bonus component might vary and there is no stock
Go with uber. 2S doesn’t care about which industry you come from. The eng at uber is better, and amsterdam is a much better location
Can I DM you please?
sure
Go with Uber. It won't keep you from interviewing with the other firms you want, and Optiver is a good option in Amsterdam as well that would recruit from Uber. Also, this is Blind, post TC.
What is the offered TC at all places?
Don't even think about jpmc unless it's a quant dev kind role .. Uber anyday
Why even consider a move from Meta London to one of the banks? Seems like a downgrade in every way to me
Share the offer details wtf
What do you mean by front office team?
Amsterdam >> London both in terms of pay, quality of life, freedom to explore Europe and save taxes lol
I did think of this, but most of the hedge funds are based out of London which is another factor, if I stay back in London the chances of me getting hired are more I feel as I will need visa sponsorship, also I have to give money back to Uber if I leave before 2 years
Give money back before 2 years… I didn’t know that. If you leave after 1 year maybe you only have to give back 2nd half of bonus.
