Hi, I currently work in cyber security team in UBS, India. In pandemic I really got frustrated of working in a support function of a business and started thinking for alternate career paths. I came up with below 2 paths ahead for me. 1. Tech consulting: This was obvious choice because I have worked in Big4 tech consulting (Cyber Security) before. This job will be more of a project management and sales. 2. Product Manager: This is something I was really interested in since it aligns with my long term entrepreneurship goals. I have worked on my startup previously but it didn't work out. So I went ahead and applied aggressively by cold emailing people. I have landed 2 jobs 1. Deloitte - Manager : TC 28L (10-20% bonus) 2. Smallcase - Associate Product Manager: TC 23L I am really confused about deciding my career path ahead. My main goal is financial growth and business exposure.. so I can retire from job 10 years down the line and start my own startup. So not considering subjective and intangible parameters like interest etc. Which job should I take up to grow fast in next 10 years.. Maybe reach 1 cr+ TC and a level where I'll be deciding business strategy etc. Also does it make sense to switch domain after 7 YOE? Please help me choose. Current TC: 21 LPA + 5% Bonus YOE: 7 #india #career #indiancareers #consulting #productmanager #pm #consultingindia #ey #deloitte #kpmg #pwc #flipkart #amazon #google #smallcase #zeta#product #help #phonepe #ola #uber #zomato
Hey, Did you join smallcase as an APM???
OP what did you do?
Pm all the way
Can you give me your reasons?
Almost every person I know in consulting wants to move to a Strategy, Ops or PM role. PMs are now getting paid a lot more than few years back. Every tech company hires for experiences PMs as there are few, and on the other hand there are way too many consultants applying for tech roles.
