Help me choose an offer data scientist Vs analysis
I have the choice between a data scientist role at a Google tech partner with a staff of 100 people (150 TC) or a senior data analyst role at Oracle (160 TC). The Google tech partner data science role will be in a data science department. The data analyst role at Oracle in the sales branch. I am currently a senior data scientist with 120 TC in a non tech company. I am lost. I need to decide today. What will you do?
I would judge by how much you would like the day to day role. Depending on which LOB you would be in at Oracle, you are not likely to get pay increases as years go by (however, if you will be in OCI, make sure you get OCI people's feedback, because they are treated like a different company!) Since we can't say what your advancement opportunities would be with the Google tech partner, its anybody's guess. Also, Data Scientist looks better than Data Analyst on future resumes, if that is critical to you. Follow your gut with whichever job problem sounds more interesting to solve. You will organically perform better at that one anyway.
