I am a senior software engineer at LinkedIn. I am about 18 months away from a Staff promotion. Recently interviewed and received offers from Stripe, Robinhood and Databricks. Help me decide which one to choose. Current TC: 380k TC at all these places: ~450k I am optimizing for upside and career growth. Please note that Stripe does 1 year grant which limits the upside. #stripe #robinhood #databricks
How was the Robinhood interview?
Team @ DB and/or your background?
I am in app infra at LinkedIn. Talking to 2 teams at Databricks, didn’t finalize.
DB is a rats nest of tech debt from rapid growth and scaling necessity with tons of backwards compatibility. Things are finally standardizing a bit thanks to covid opportunistic hires, but there are opportunities abound to improve many critical systems. Yes that is both a pro and a con, so...
What’s the level at all 3?
L5 / E5 equivalent at all places.
Everyone good I know at Robinhood fled like rats
Interesting. Do you know why? Business seems to be doing well, so curious.
Have you been living under a rock this year?
How long have you been at LinkedIn? I’m in a similar spot
biased but db has a way stronger moat and less bloated valuation than Robinhood. fuck stripe I'd look for earlier stage startups, ur half a year late for db lol
Thanks for sharing. True, I am a bit late for Databricks. Hope not too late given future growth?
there's definitely upside, just probably not the explosive kind (4x valuation in 2 years between series D/E) databricks offers were based on series D valuation end of 2020 haha
Yep. Ignore stripe. There valued high but still room for growth BUT their new RSU / options policy will not let you take advantage of that potential growth
+1
would you mind letting us know the TC breakup ? Also, I would chose data bricks if i were you because of the upside and i know some very smart people work there
