Help me evaluate offer: Wells Fargo or Optum

I have received two offers for senior Software engineer. Which one to join? Both Location: NYC Wells Fargo: Base 155k + 20 bonus (5 days In Office) Optum: Base 170k + no bonus (Full Remote) Current TC: 120k in Virginia Points I would like to discuss: 1. Is that true that Wells Fargo might have 0 bonus if org don't do well? 2. How's work life balance in both? 3. Wells Fargo don't have 401k in first year? 4. Is that extra 5k worth going to every day to office? P.S. which one to join? #interview #finance #wellsfargo #offer #tech #h1b #visa #new york #healthcare #tech

Optum

Neither of them are good options. Take the full remote and keep looking

+1 For a senior role you could make up to 100k more although you’re area might be LCOL so that might be impacting your TC.

I would take Optum and keep looking for next adventure.

Optum all day long. Health industry stable in all economies. Wells Fargo still hasn’t learned they can’t cut their way to profitability.

5 days in office, fuck that, optum

Isn't JP Morgan doing that too?

Probably, not going to be my problem soon, I'm joining your bank 😂

Optum because their TCs are negligibly different and you will not understand the pain of NYC commuting until you do it all the time in terrible weather and being next to people who smell like urine plus all the “showtime” guys when you’re just trying to decompress on your train ride home. Plus then you can focus on getting more cheaper housing instead of trying to find the right place to commute from.
