I am a business analyst in AMZL with base salary 74k and bonus 10k. My background is industrial engineering. I know little of python, R, sql, machine learning and good amount of statistics. I took a resolution this year to learn the skills needed for me to transition to data engineering/ML related role in amazon next year. Could you please tell what technical skills are mostly needed for such role, so i can brush them up this year? (Alexa/Amazon prime video/AWS are my target) #tech #amazonaws #amazon #dataengineer #machinelearningengineer
These are fairly different types of engineering with ML obviously being much more math/stats based. You should pick one to pursue because you’ll spread yourself too thin trying to tackle prepping for both roles at the same time. But ultimately it’ll depend on how well you interview and how strong your story is as to why you’re a good fit
Thank you so much for the reply sir! I am fresh graduate with bachelor and masters degree in industrial engineering. My degrees are heavily based on applied mathematics and statistics. But i have less experience of coding like python. I do have some experience in sql. How would you suggest me for the transition? Do ML engineering requires a lot of coding?
Can your manager help you get experience in those roles?
