Hey guys. My STEM OPT and H1B are both pending and my D/L will expire by the end of this month.
Will the DMV accept either of the receipt notices for license renewal? Anybody faced a similar issue earlier? Please advise since I can't reach work without a car.

Use a I-797C (a receipt of a pending status). They will usually accept to renew your license for one year in those cases. The first level clerks might try to refuse you to use a receipt. But ask for a supervisor in that case.

You can get a CA driver license. Don't have to be a citizen last I heard.

But the expiry date of the license depends on whether you are citizen or not.

Really? Does it expire when u become a citizen? That would be classic CA logic.
If you got receipt of either you should be good to renew for certain time. You don’t need approval notice.
Do you know what would be the duration for which it'll be renewed?
Generally it gets renewed by the expiration date of your proof. But in this case, you would have no date on the notice so you should get a temporary license for 3 months.
