Do you think the salaries are higher now mainly because of blind? Earlier without blind, one used to think that they were making a lot of money.
Because of blind salaries are reducing
Blind + Levels.fyi
If anything, it’s gotta be levels.fyi
2 things happened, I think: 1) more salary transparency (mainly on US side, which is tbh way above rest of the world) that helped awareness and negotiation. 2) more referral chances and interview transparency, tips and guides that helped people get in the door. 1) is generally positive. 2) is abit nuanced IMO, if too many people pass interviews the companies would consider raising the bar (already happened) and over-supply might also tank salary negotiating power since instead of 500k there are now more qualified candidates willing to sign for 400k in a LoL area of the US or 1/2 that in another country for example. If only HRs are transparent (yeah right) and provide data points for concrete insights.
There have always been professional networking and mentors. Career minded people find a way
I have friends at Google and Microsoft who don't even know blind exists. I feel like the oddball lol
Hell of a lot higher for me, so I bumped the average up a bit
Level.fyi... blind is a bragging platform
You can definitely help it by paying the blind tax.
No. Blind is a small community.
The top companies are also a small community for engineers. IIRC, most Uber and FB Eng are on Blind?
i think levels.fyi is more responsible
