Just found out that my boss made 3M last year, and it got me thinking... What is the highest (in-year) TC you have heard someone get, and what was their job? Business owners do not count, but partners at an LLP/LLC do count. Curious to see whos making all the money out there! EDIT: excluding CEOs of publically traded companies, since this is readily available online. Was hoping for data points that not many know of TC: 460k YOE: 4
Start with your TC maybe?
Added.
Start with 10k reports/proxy statements. And then release
PM at a Quant hedge fund, think TC with bonus during the 2020-21 year was like 15+ mil for someone in their 30s, traders and researchers in the same pod all had 7 figure bonuses.
I mean, hedge funds are special... Isn't Quant that hedge fund with all the brilliant mathemticians? Or am I just describing every large hedge fund.
What about PM salary ?
Our execs make 3m to 12m. I rarely hear an engineer self report much more than $1m. But I also have never seen an engineering fellow salary. And most companies have those.
I think Fellows at top tier companies make 1-5M and about 1M at mid-high tier. At lower tier companies, probably 500k.
What does one need to do to become a fellow
$3m tc is fairly common for VP and above in most large tech companies.
Really ??
Due to stock grants, yes. Especially during 2021
Google CEO is great, what are you talking about? I’ve 5x my money investing in G, thanks Sundar.
Yeah I guess I mean us mere mortal employees and non exec comp (since we can look up exec comp). For example how much can the higher ups at HRT make? This is something less known and smth I was wondering about
Easy... That would be any CEOs salary. A better question is - what's the TC number above which it doesn't matter how much more you earn, you can't practically get more out of money in this life and world?
Good question. I’d say 1m?
I dunno…lots of million dollar products out there that would help me get more out of life lol. My vote is 1b. At that point you probably bought all the ridiculous rich people toys and have plenty left over.
300M - at a hedge fund in the 2000s. Not me obviously.
which hedge fund
That's normal for the hedge-fund founder. But, was this an employee you mean?
Don’t talk about TC in real life😂
Why? I think everyone should talk about their comp w their coworkers. It only benefits everyone (but your employer who wants to pay you as little as possible)

That's great. Are you an investment banker?
