As an example, SF has lots of great tech roles available with competitive salaries. However, it's got a high cost of living (their rent, groceries, gyms, bars, etc are mad expensive!). Which city (not just in the US) is considered to be the best paying for SWE roles, accounting for it's currency, tax and cost of living? TC: 300 YoE: 7 Role: SWE Manager Edit: added tax to the consideration ^^
Portland is fantastic. Austin TX as well
Midwest will get you most bang for buck. But no one wants to live there. Texas is a close second
Austin can’t be beat. Seattle is a good second
Austin #1, seattle #2 for sure. Austin salaries similar to Seattle, but cost of living is super low in austin. Only downside is it's hot as sh** down there
Fintech jobs in Chicago are ok.
After-tax with high TC, it’s hard to beat Seattle or Austin
The Key is to work for a HCoL based company but WFH in a low COL area.
Any thoughts on European cities?

How to relocate out of Blue areas?
I think Seattle and Austin, I don't live there but one of my friends who stays in Seattle says he can save upto $3500/month. He's still a bachelor. His TC:$95k
Must be living in mommy’s basement
Is possible even on that TC. I too saved $2500 per month with TC: 88k only
