Just got a job offer and now need to go through a HireRight background check. It’s asking for 10 years of employment data. I have a few dates that are fudged to hide any gaps and a dodgy company that I omitted. Does Hireright check against my CV or what I enter on their portal? Almost all the companies I’ve been with have been acquired as well. So I don’t know what HR has my data. I was also living and working outside the US at this time. Any information or advice here?
Can confirm they do check. My friend from previous company told me they reached out, and something as minor as "Software Engineer" vs "Software Dev Engineer" gets marked as discrepancy. If they cannot confirm an entry, they are going to ask for additional documents.
They check the CV or what you send to HireRight?
I declined to give contact info for all of my employers and they asked for w2s instead
Thinking of calling the recruiter to discuss. Any thoughts?
Don’t think it would be an issue. Depends on the employer as well. Is it big-tech or a startup?
Update. I just entered the correct info into the HireRight portal. Took about a week, but all came back clear and approved. Thanks everyone for the advice
Did you keep it as is with gaps and no questions asked?
I corrected the dates and even added in a job I omitted. This company even paid for CV analysis. No questions at all. Not sure if happy or pissed I was so stressed
What you enter on the portal
100% sure? Do they share the portal details to the employer?
Yes, They will share details to employer
