If you’re interviewing with Google right now, continue interviewing with other companies. They are now cancelling some roles and headcount so what you’re interviewing for right now, may not be available once the pause is over in 2 weeks or so. And we (recruiters) might not be able to pivot you to a different role so we may have to reject you completely. Don’t bet on Google right now. Protect yourselves and keep options open! How can Google be unable to afford to hire
That’s not how the board members see it. They want to maintain profit margins. If revenue is predicted to be flat/falling, shrinking the company through a hiring freeze + attrition will help maintain margins.
That’s not the case lol. We’ve hired so much this year, they’re taking this pause to figure out priorities; what roles need to be filled NOW vs ones that can wait etc etc. Once that sort that out, then we can extend offers again. We aren’t able to extend offers only at this time but can still schedule interviews.
Any insights in regards specifically to Product Management roles? I know a ton of us have been kept in the dark by our recruiters

I just got my rejection call from Google today. Said this exact same thing. She said my interviews went really well but unfortunately they are slowing hiring for the rest of 2022 and can’t offer me a position right now.
