It was always my dream to work in a big tech company. I did internships at big companies and hot start-ups in Seattle and am now at SF in Dallas with 2 YOE. I still enjoy tech and love the innovation that comes out from it but I’m kinda sick of being a corporate slave lol. I know I can just start my own thing and be an “entrepreneur” but even that I don’t wanna do. Anyone else feel the same way? My dream is to just live in the Mountains in WA, have a nice cabin, animals, and some crops and chill. TC - 90k Dallas (Tech non-SWE)
Me too. I love my job, make good money but still feel that way. For me it's somewhere near Tibet or Kerala , Washington might do as well
Can you do a trial run and take a 3-6 month sabbatical renting out a cabin in an environment similar to what you're envisioning? From what I've read it seems like a lot more work than most imagine, it's a full time job to keep going.
Same but in India. Want to retire in Himalayas right now.
Himalayas are beautiful. I’m Pakistani but I’d love to go to all parts of the Himalayas one day. My uncle goes every year for his anthropology research and the pictures he sends are gorgeous
@OP I feel the same. Would be glad to chat about it. You might like "Alone in the Wilderness" if you have some spare time.
