Honest opinion on Ramp in 2024

What are your honest opinions on ramp in 2024. How does it stack up with databricks and Notion? Talking with recruiters from all 3. Current early career dev in faang, looking for my next role at a smaller/earlier. company. Hard to find unbiased info on ramp because everything seems either intentionally shilled or straight up marketing. I saw they had a down round—around the same time companies like plaid raised at higher valuations. And what makes ramp different from Brex, which is doing not so well? Only explanation seems like the “talent” but do you really need that much talent to build what amounts to a internal finance crm?

My partner is in the space and he thinks Ramp will get crushed in the long term 😬

Could you elaborate on why?

Applied Intuition strawbrry6 Apr 10

Kinda what you mentioned - down round, similar companies like brex are not doing well, Fintech in general has taken a huge hit... plus his new company is positioned to cannibalize Ramp in the next few years 🤭 (cant say lol, I've already said too much)

Why are you comparing Notion and Databricks? They seem like very different companies aside from both being financially strong.

Do you think Notion is overvalued?

Netflix bxahuwusw Apr 10

Yes. But most companies that raised in 2021 are. Growth rate is more important. IMO anything more than a 15x multiple is overvalued.

What are you indexing on? If it’s liquid comp, neither notion nor ramp are close to IPO or have liquidity events as far as I’m aware. Databricks could ipo within the next 2-3 years.

indexing on mentoring/learning opportunities/talent, comp, career growth opportunity, and also resume brand name value for next role

Cool. My two cents: all three have similar brand name value, with advantages in certain industries (ie if you want to go to snowflake or a cloud provider, databricks experience might be more valuable). In the other areas, I do think the specific org you end up in will be most impactful here. In general, databricks probably comes out ahead imo. But I think the company culture and actual folks you’ll be working with are most important when you’re talking about 3 really good companies.
