Reading through all the posts, I've found a few things not acknowledged by each side. PRO-GUN why do you think UK and Singapore have no mass shootings like US? How come UK cops can patrol without a gun, but not US? Isn't it because US is more dangerous to cops due to presence of so many guns? Can you prevent government tryanny with hand guns whole the armed forces sure so powerful? ANTI-GUN If they're are no guns at all, how would we be protected from an armed intruder? And if it is okay for cops to have guns, why can't the rest of us similarly be similarly vetted to have guns? Are you aware that the police has no legal obligation to protect you? Personally, Would you feel safer if you have a gun with You?
Comparing tiny countries to the US doesn’t work. There are large parts of the US where cops are easily more than an hour away. Remember, the US has the gun rights it does, BECAUSE of the UK.
So can urban cops in the US do without guns, like their UK counterparts? Also there are more cops killed pet capita in the US, even if you only take urban places like NYC and Chicago
In this century, 25 U.K. officers died in the line of duty. The figure for the U.S.—2,445—is nearly 100 times that. Adjusting for numbers of officers, U.S. deaths are still 10 times higher. My guess is that what accounts for much of the U.K./U.S. difference is guns. Most British cops don’t carry guns
Singapore doesn't have a drug problem and Saudi Arabia doesn't have widespread alcohol abuse either. Now you can try to imitate them in the US, but we all know it ain't going to fly.
Saudi Arabia just hates women
But this is US and laws don't work that well.
Mass shootings vs petty crimes. If citizens have guns, thieves most likely don't risk their lives to do petty crimes. That's why you see more crimes in Chicago (where citizens cannot have guns) over places where citizens can have guns. Police force cannot protect and stop these crimes at every place every time. So citizens need their own protection. So in that sense, power and protection to citizens are good. Now, some citizen are misusing this power resulting in mass shooting killing more innocent people. And most of these mass shooting, mostly occurs in gun free zones, where the shooter is aware that they won't be attacked easily. They are sure that people in those areas are defenseless and then they engage in attack. To instill fear on these attackers, we should allow at least some key people to carry guns even in gun free zones, like teachers in schools. Inspite of all the efforts, there would be criminals who will bomb, who will steal, who will rape etc. Just because there are rapes, we cannot cut dick of every man, you see.
USA has a mental health problem masked as a gun problem.
You can leave
After you.
Simple: people rarely use guns for personal protection, anyway: https://www.npr.org/2018/04/13/602143823/how-often-do-people-use-guns-in-self-defense Police duty to protect me is not really germane here. We can pass laws giving them that duty. It’s not that complicated.
Just because something is rarely used by itself does not mean, we should not keep them. By the way, every country is spending a lot to keep more weapons, fighter jets and even nuclear bombs (which are never used). Does that mean every country should stop spending on Defense?
It does mean we lose very little in the worst case. 0.9% of crime victims use a firearm in self defense. I can give that up in exchange for fewer gun deaths. Your national defense analogy is a false equivalence, but, yes, we would all be better off if the US, and most other countries, spent less on defense.

Question about women in their 30’s?
The places you mention just have more stabbings, truck attacks, and bombings. It’s citizens are sitting ducks who are powerless to stop it. The cops have guns.
do you agree they have fewer incidents where so many people are killed at once? I haven't been able to find incidents in UK and Singapore of proportionate mass truck attacks
Not all cops in UK and Hong Kong have guns. Most patrol cops don't
