Is it normal for a company to say someone left voluntarily even if said person was involuntarily terminated? Just curious.
Yes absolutely, they are rarely up front about these things across the industry.
Hootsuite is dying, their top devs left, and left with mediocores.
Nobody is usually fired. They tell someone they are gonna be fired and the victim walks the plank voluntarily. Usually a sweetener is added to make the process go quietly and smoothly.
Wrong. Of course people are fired. Sometimes they don’t go smoothly and need security escorts AND still the template email is sent out. #execsAreRegularPeople
No in Hootsuite. They even negotiate $ with the victim to leave without noise and making sure that the company look good. They have done that for years.
Yup
Yeah, have to agree with above comment. The company is on the way out. Shame because it could have been a big success story (like how they kept shouting about) but they didn’t do what they needed to. Many good people have left, even some of the ‘OGs’ (hipster talk for originals that were with the company from early days) have jumped ship. Some super mediocre people left in there that basically can’t get jobs elsewhere as they’re just not good at their jobs and some have never worked elsewhere or tried to upskill but instead rely on fake internal popularity culture and their ‘loyalty’ to the CEO to get ahead, so are promoted when they really shouldn’t be. Maybe they’ll swing getting acquired, but don’t see the IPO that was talked about back in 2015 happening now. Sad for Vancouver and the many good and hard working people that tried to turn it around.

Why does leetcode get so much hate?
Yes. To keep face for the person fired. Usually some of the other classics are I am leaving to spend more time with the family, trying to find a new direction.
