Hopper comp for Sr. SWE

Hopper recruiter reached out and decided to take a call with them. We ran out of time to discuss comp. Just checked levels.fyi and what little data they have indicates that they won't be able to meet my expectations. Didn't have time to discuss comp on recruiter call so they said we could discuss after first round interview... is it worth taking it? Hopper TC: ?? TC: 490 w/stock appreciation, ~390 based on timing of grants YOE: 10+ #hopper TL;DR for others: seems like high probability they can't meet expectations for now.

I got an offer for a non senior role, but it was much lower than my other offers. I highly doubt they will be able to come close to your current TC

Are you willing to share your rough breakdown / level / YOE?

JPMorgan Chase yogw43 Jan 5, 2022

2.5 YOE, 160k base and around 120k worth of options at current valuation. TC ~190k. No bonus or sign on or anything like that. I feel like for senior you would get much more options so take that as you will. It’s also a remote company, so I’m sure it depends on where you’re living also. I live in a MCOL city, for HCOL it will be a little higher.

Ya, highly doubt they are going to get to 500k for senior. But the people are nice to work with

It's pre-IPO so there seems to be high risk. I should have mentioned cash comp (base+bonus) at the moment is right around 275. I'd need something similar in order to consider a switch.

which... I guess is not possible. Not able to consider a big reduction in cash comp due to currently sole income earner.

I got an offer recently for 400 TC. I don't think 500 is reachable for Sr, though with 10+ YOE you could probably shoot for principal (they don't have a staff level).

What was the offer breakdown, and how many YOE?

Better.com dj913hq Jan 6, 2022

250 base, 600/4 options, 9 YOE
