I have been interviewing for a data engineer's role at @Amazon India for the last 1 and half months. Till now, there have been 5 rounds (1 Online test, 1 HR Discussion, 3 Technical). There is one more interview round that has been scheduled & rescheduled 6 times now. Here is the chronology: Original schedule: 12th March Reschedule 1 : 15th March Reschedule 2 : 19th March Reschedule 3 : 31st March Reschedule 4: 24th March Reschedule 5: 31st March again! This time I was told after the interview started that it is now on 31st March again This is the first time an interview has been rescheduled so many times in my career. I am interviewing after 3 years and this is my first experience with FAANG companies. Is this is a normal thing at big tech companies? Is this an indication that I am already not selected and they are just moving things to frustrate me? What should be my course of action? TC: Rs 52 LPA (5.2 mil) with stocks YOE: 5 year 10 months EDIT: Posting my whole experience here for context (Sorry for the length) A recruiter contacted me first in Dec and when I agreed went missing for 2 straight months before reaching to me again on Feb 2nd with an online test. I ignored the delay thinking that it was probably due to year-end work. After the test, a recruiter called me after a week and I missed the call. I called back but no one picked up so I dropped an email saying that I tried to contact her. Again, radio silence for 2 weeks, and then someone from Amazon HR called me and she had a 40 minutes conversation explaining the role and asking about my work and experience. She also asked me to link my current work with the role and said she will reach out soon. After a week, another HR sent me a meeting invite with a 14-LP PDF attachment and some other instructions. 3 meetings were scheduled for 12th March. On the 10th, HR called me and asked if they can schedule one of the discussion rounds on the 15th and I said okay. Now, I just had 2 rounds on 12th. On the 15th the HR called again to set the meeting I had on 15th to the 19th. On the 17th, he again called and set an ad-hoc round on the 18th. The same day he said that they are postponing my 19th interview on 31st as the interviewer is on leave. I agreed. Now, on 22nd, the HR called again and asked if I can do it on the 24th. I agreed to that. I rearranged my schedule and plans to accommodate the discussion as I was excited to interview for a FAANG company. But today, as soon as the interview started, the interviewer said that my interview is actually scheduled on the 31st and it was a different candidate for the 24th. Now it is again on the 31st. I cannot really comprehend how such a big and legendry innovation powerhouse is so much mismanaged. [Final Edit 2nd April 2021:] Got offered by Amazon for the role of data engineer. Comp details awaited #tech #amazon #interview #dataengineer #dataengineering
Which team or org is this. Some of them have horrible management
It's a team called ES tech according to the job description
Ok. If they are interviewing you for level 6 then it's ok. For level 5 they will struggle to match your current TC
Your TC is too good for your yoe at Expedia. Are you sde3? You should apply for DE3 level at amazon, else the salary band will be same for you at DE2
I am not an SDE. I was told it is Data engineer L5. Is it DE2 or DE3?
L5 equals DE2
I had a pretty smooth experience with their team. The recruiter kept me posted on all updates & timelines I had 3 rounds & one on site ( so all in all 8-9 interviews) but my process got over in 1 month. Same experience for people I’ve referred. I guess it’s a case of bad apples for you
I guess I am unlucky. Maybe, this is a one-off case, but, really disappointed in a FAANG company like Amazon treating potential candidates like this.
Their leadership principles are too much, feels like a cult
Same happening to me as well. So it seems at Amazon multiple reschedules is a norm. First time I joined Chime call and waited for 20 mins with multiple emails being sent but got no response. Since it has been rescheduled 3 times. And this is the 1st round.
They’re checking how desperate you are.
I am not. Should I say FO to them? Is Amazon really worth all these interview rounds?
