Last month I had interview round with Databricks for Solution Architect role. Did well up to final interview, had discussion with HM before a final presentation and they ask about the product I’m presenting. I tell them it is a product I’ve worked on that I believe is a good subject for the presentation. The HM tells me: “They were really wanting to have a demo too…” Me:” sorry, I signed and NDA, I can’t just show an exact demo live and everything of what was built elsewhere” HM: “Ooo, yeah, okay, that’ll be some points off for the interview but whatever we can try to make it work.” So, let me get this straight. Not only did I have to do 5 rounds of interview before this, but then you want an hour long presentation and you’d like me to show you a product I’ve developed, that likely goes against NDA etc, all for free..? Is this unethical and toxic?
I had a similar experience. Where the HM asked my rating at last company. Databricks has a stupid interview process
Name and shame on LinkedIn. This is fuckdd up.
It’s a shame , put this in feedback - unethical for sure
Oops, not good for the IPO
No serious company would do that. In all the major interviews I did, the interviewing company specifically warned me not to reveal any confidential information about my then current job.
You are extremely naive. Many many companies use interviews as an opportunity about internal details at another company and especially a competitor.
That’s shady as hell
That’s really fucked up. Hope you didn’t join them
Relax snowflake .
lmao the coping is hard!!
They asked me not to disclose anything I shouldn't. My experience was on of the best I've ever had (eng). This sounds like you were interviewed by a dick. The company does not endorse anything like that.
Sorry for my naïveté, but I’d never do a final presentation on an unfinished product that might violate an NDA. At any company.
It was finished and in production. They wanted to see it all with a demo.
Wait, so the product was live and customers were using it? How is it against NDA then?
Asking for a live demo is insane 🤣
For an SA job? That’s like hiring an engineer without doing any coding assessment
Have candidate demo some databricks product not “interview” direct competitors and ask for a demo of their stuff. Total bs
