Hi everyone! I’m moving to Seattle and from visiting I really enjoyed the atmosphere of Capitol Hill. I’m doing temp housing to give myself time to tour and really figure out what I want, but I wanted to come in with some ideas. My budget in 2.5k for a 1br (preferably not urban/open). Any recs in Cap Hill?
There are a lot of options at that price point. I suggest not living in one of the new glass and steel monstrosities and try to find a renovated classic apartment.
For sure. So far on my list of potentials I have Excelsior, Three20, and Hawthorne
I would suggest giving SLU a shot. It's one of the fastest growing neighborhoods with all the tech offices there. You will find a lot of new buildings that come with AC (the fact that other buildings didn't have this blew my mind as someone who just moved to Seattle recently). SLU also has less crime compared to Capitol Hill. It's more residential so it's less noiser except for construction. Of course, you're giving up quick access to bars and restaurants but you can get to Capitol Hill, Belltown, Queen Anne quickly from SLU. It's in the middle of all these great neighborhoods.
I was originally looking into SLU but I’m not sure. The short commute to work is nice but I feel like for me that’s the only bonus. Almost all my friends live in Capitol Hill, all the bars/nightclubs/night life I enjoyed were in Capitol Hill. I definitely like to go out a lot and I’m worried I’d be limiting myself by living in SLU.
If you’re single I wouldn’t recommend this, SLU is for people who to prefer to live in calm and quiet. It’s also lacking a distinct character and just feels bland (my opinion). I would agree that it’s safer, but Capitol Hill is relatively safe and way more fun for going out if you want to make friends/grab happy hour. Plus, you’re right off the Link station.
Wow , that TC for a sde1 , breakdown?
