Even at a base salary of $100K, the PITI would eat up your entire take home; hell, I couldn’t even get a pre-approved loan to cover the asking price without being housing me Rick and cash poor. That’s not to mention the fact that there’s nothing to do in Topeka, Kansas which makes a terrible investment for someone who wants a social and dating life—I say this as someone who lives in surburban hell built around car dependency. NYC and cities like it get a bad rap, but walkability and sociability are good things to have in a city; you can’t be social at all without people to be around. Maybe Kansas is good for families, but not for single young men like me. TC: 90K, first time homebuyer
There is plenty to do outside the city.... Most of it is outdoors, of course.... Added bonus that it's stuff you can still enjoy with your spouse (and bigger kids) in the future.....
Why would you try to buy a house while making 90k?
I only see ghosts there
It’s what happens when people don’t have to compete with the entirety of India and China for housing
It looks lonely.
Mega pass on house, price and city
You pay a bit of a premium in Kansas to have enough space to set up a meth lab.
Kansas is as Midwestern as Delaware and Maryland are Southern. Technically accurate, but by any other grouping, they aren't.
What are you suggesting KS is then...?
Definitely midwestern until you get west of where this is. Topeka is pretty similar to living somewhere in Ohio.
Losers like these kind of homes
