I see some hedge funds are actually doing well like citadel. Everybody gets at least 1M in 2022? How are companies like Bloomberg and FactSet?
We’re doing really well. In general, Bloomberg has always been a recession-proof company, and if anything, we thrive in down markets. If I recall correctly, terminal subscription numbers are up YoY and my org at least is getting into new and exciting spaces. But as far as I know we aren’t hiring atm
Do you mind me asking your org at bbg?
Fintech seems to do good. Lots of work ahead. I just joined one and can’t care less about economy atm
Fintechs fundraising has slowed substantially and with shit shit business models that don’t generate positive free cash flow- what could go wrong lol. UBS abandoning wealthfront acquisition is an example
Fintech is a different story, but Citadel and many financial institutions run a very tight ship when it comes to their tech people and does usually not get bloated like tech companies with investor money. Combine that with ability to make even more money in downturn, ridiculous aversion of HF/HFT jobs of SWE folk thanks to propaganda on the likes of Blind and you get bling.
