I know influencers who earn millions a year. And their videos are crap. Got millions of views. What’s their future like? Will the revenue keep growing? Is it time for us to shift gear to YouTube? Being a software engineer is shit. We work so hard and earn 100s but YouTubers do shit and earn millions. 😢

I cannot do cringe shit for money.
you probably wouldn't be able to get views anyway
Getting successful in a field with stark difference in the incomes of the top people (millionaires) and average and low end (almost 0 earnings) is much less probable than working as a software developer - where even if you're shit - you'll still have a monthly payout. It's more difficult to to get Internet famous than cracking a coding interview. Otherwise, everyone would've been doing it already.
You can still make a decent income or even side income building a presence and trying to scale your constant content across a wide array of channels with some organic/paid marketing tactics.
I think TikTok influencers are even more ridiculous. I also often think to start a blog as a side hustle. I think the biggest challenge for them is not to care what people think about them and self motivation is a second.
Tech Lead has the answer
Start a scam coin and steal people's money?
How? The same way most tech companies have made piles and piles of money: having a broad audience with ad impressions. Seriously, of all people to ask this, techies should understand the power of millions of users and targeted advertising.
Lol, you realized most YouTubers earn significantly less than minimum wage, right ? Large YouTuber in their early day don't make it big until they enter years 5-6. Can you imagine yourself making less than minimum wage for multiple years and keep believing you'll make it big one day if you keep going ? They get paid so much because they have outreach and audience that can be sold to corporation and help rich company makes even more money. If your work can help rich people richer, you'll get rich in return
I worked for an influencer marketing company for 2 years. Influencer outreach is much less valuable than you’d guess by the numbers. There were plenty of IG models where we’d see less than 100 conversions per 1m followers. Even the top end of influencers are making much less than people think. Realistically, OP doesn’t know any influencers personally who are actually making millions. The ones who are usually own some tangential business.
why did the Kardashians become so wealthy? it wasnt the TV show. its what the TV show brought them in terms of audience for their other ventures.
