Some of the roles I see are data engineer, cloud machine learning engineer, technical solutions engineer etc. Are these roles compensated the same as swe?
25 percent lower overall comp.
Excuse my ignorance- what is swe? Software engineer? What’s the difference? #noob
Its a different job ladder. Different interviews and job function
As a TSE I can tell you these responses are bullshit. I am paid more than most SWEs at my level, SREs are generally paid even more. Talk to the manager about transferring into another role before you join to set expectations if that's your goal. If you have drive you can transfer to a SWE ladder, you just have to find time to do coding work between your support work. There's plenty to do.
TSE is essentially a support/partner SWE so I can understand similar pay, but many TSC roles like TAM are paid much much less than SWEs
What is the TC range for TSE?
It's a trap. They get placed on a different ladder and mobility to SWE is a shitshow. Compensation is also lower though it's probably on par with SWE at other companies
