How are things at Oracle Cloud?
How is the culture and morale? Been reading lots of negative press on Oracle but research shows Oracle Cloud has some pretty good and well rated products.
Honest question, what is the motivation for anyone to consider Oracle Cloud? AWS has a pretty big catalog, Enterprise companies already use Azure, for kubernetes or ML stuff, people use GCP. Where does Oracle Cloud fit in?

I maintain over 200 oracle standard DBs. And what we have to do to maintain that is an abject shitshow. If we could dump oracle we would. Patching is a joke. We have support, and every time they have bombarded us with unrelated questions or flat out blamed us. When our team talked about moving to the cloud a year ago, we mentioned Oracle cloud....and then promptly laughed for 5 minutes.
Hmm I see. But the joke is on you guys actually because people at oci are making multiples of your tc and having an amazing wlb to boot.

OCI group is well rated. They get paid 3X more than other Oracle employees. Depends on what you r looking for.
This role is in Cloud HCM
Pay is better than when I was with Amazon by a good bit, WLB is orders of magnitude better.
SaaS is more stable than IaaS and PaaS. you should be ok with Cloud HCM. better Wlb. is this Redwood Shores?
Oracle cloud was/is a fantastic opportunity for non-rock star devs to get rock star comp. Gotta love them for that.
If youāre a good engineer itās a great place. If youāre a mediocre engineer or your code is buggy. Move on. There is a lot if work and I donāt want to be fixing your shitty code
