I am a software engineer with 9+ years of full-stack(heavier on the backend though) experience. I want to make a switch into the Solutions Architect role in a technology product company like AWS, GCP or Snowflake. I do not have any client-facing experience. How can I do that?
I was considering a similar move so curious why you decided on this?
I‘m planning to move as well. I decided to acquire certifications first.
Don't do this. You will absolutely regret the decision unless your long term plan is to go into sales, specifically technology sales.
Could you elaborate please?
Sorry for the late response, as I said these jobs are nothing more than sales engineer positions. You will get out of touch with core skills in technology soon and will feel like a poser telling other technology folks on how to solve their problems.
Doesn't that seem like a downgrade at least in terms of pay? Or do solutions architect get paid as good?
Curious to know more about the questions posed on this thread
What's the pay scale for a solutions architect
Should be easy coming from SWE assuming you have the soft skills Way easier to put the puzzle together vs build the pieces
