How did Yelp, Google reviews, Tripadvisor reached restaurants in corners of 3rd world country with their brand stickers?
Let it be FourSquare, Booking.com, Kayak or any other app listed above, have their stickers on restaurants or some remote village in Vietnam and Philippines. How did they acquire those customers? Do they outsource onboarding such customers via a 3rd party company? Or those companies established themselves strong in USA first, then got more funding to expand to those countries? My target customers are mom and pop stores in third world countries. They are widespread. Just go and talk to them one by one? I know word of mouth is one way, but what if it requires some explanation and convincing. PS: There is 120 character limit for question. So I went for 3rd world country. I myself from one such place. I'm not discriminating anyone. Sorry.

The term "3rd world country" has taken on a whole different meaning that world leaders have long started to use it to mean the poor ones. E.g. Singapre late premier in his book "From third world to first". Technically Singapore has always been first due to its alignment with the West.

Neither. They created strong self service tools for onboarding (onerous on the restaurants). They then worked to capture the consumer market (the people actually visiting the restaurants) with intuitive UIs, general marketing, word of mouth ext. At a certain point they just come to you because they have too/see the ROI for themselves.
I don't get the last part - they just come to you because they have too/see the ROI. What did the restaurant owners invest first to see ROI when it comes to onboarding to an app?
