Like a *lot* of people, I want to work at Google— I have one niche team in mind but they’re rarely hiring. I’d be open to starting in a role where I’m overqualified and work my way to another role. I’ve gotten referrals from friends I know who work there. They said it’s honestly a crapshoot these days on who gets an interview. I’ve paid several people for resume reviews from former and current employees (ranging from recruiters, ICs, and HMs). I’ve contacted Google recruiters on LinkedIn who don’t respond (I get it, I get it). What’s the best way to get a foot in the door at Google? #google #hiring
Didn't apply, but their recruiters contact me a lot on LinkedIn.
That’s awesome! It’s nice to be recruited. What’s your role?
Embedded systems with background in cloud, mobile and desktop applications
I was looking for some porno and stumbled upon this search engine which let you search any fantasy you had, in the results it displayed some explicit photos and links to other websites too That’s how I got into google
You forgot to include one option: being head hunted
Before I joined Google, I got pinged by Google once a year so it’s really not hard.
What is head hunting?
Join an AWS team that GCP also has.. Work in the AWS team for 1-2 years and the GCP team will invite you with open arms :) Source: 3 of my friends did it in the past year
Perfect. Thanks for this tip! What is GCP? Is that related to AWS cloud?
🙄🙄🙄 you don't know gcp
Get relevant info and keywords in your LinkedIn profile and title. Google always reached out to me that way. This time, I decided to talk to them (role was aligned with what I want to do) and I just was approved by hiring committee. Joining in August.
Congrats! And thanks for the advice
If getting an interview is hard for you, passing it is probably impossible.
I don’t think I agree with this. For competitive roles that aren’t in demand, I imagine there are a lot of folks who would do well in an interview setting but haven’t been able to get noticed/gotten the chance. (Not speaking for myself necessarily because I’m still newer to tech)
Well, recruiters are trained to identify candidates that will pass the interview. They will not waste time on a candidate that is lacking the skills or background etc. If recruiters are ignoring you, your resume looks like you will fail.
I did-dent
I always got interview invitations in gmail, atleast 4 times till now. Same with Msft and Amazon, Amz call almost every 2 months hehe.
You missing the most basic option: apply for a job. That's what I did you get an interview.
Literally apply.
Oh man, I have been! I hope it’s implied that I actually applied for roles after resume reviews and referrals… lol
